The latest report released by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the children's Hospital Association on the 18th showed that more than 6million children in the United States have been infected with covid-19 since this year.
The report shows that as of the week of the 14th, there were more than 75000 new confirmed cases of covid-19 in children in the United States, with a weekly increase of more than three times that of the same period last year. In the past four weeks, there have been nearly 287000 new covid-19 infections in children in the United States. Since the outbreak of covid-19, more than 13.9 million children in the United States have been diagnosed with covid-19.
The report points out that since the beginning of June, the proportion of weekly reported child infections in all confirmed cases in the United States has decreased significantly, but this is actually due to the fact that many confirmed cases of covid-19 in children have not been counted. The child population of the United States accounts for about 22% of the total population of the country, while the number of child cases reported in the United States accounted for only 11.7% of the total confirmed cases in the week ended 14th.
The definition of the age of children varies across the United States, and most states set the age of children as 0 to 19 years old. The American Academy of Pediatrics said that there is an urgent need to collect more epidemic data at all ages to assess the severity of the disease caused by the mutated novel coronavirus and its long-term potential impact on children's health.
